There are two main routes to obtain permission to enter Pakistan: a conventional embassy/mission visa (normal visa) and the online Pakistan VPA. They differ mainly in steps and processing approach.

Typical normal visa process:

  1. Complete the embassy application online with full details and a compliant photo.
  2. Print the form and schedule an appointment at the nearest Pakistan mission or submit documents in person.
  3. Attend the appointment and wait for the decision — this route usually takes longer due to in-person processing.

Pakistan VPA process:

  1. Fill the online application with personal and passport data and upload required documents.
  2. Pay online (service + government fees) and respond to any follow-up document requests.
  3. Receive the VPA by email, print it and present at arrival. The VPA route is generally faster and fully remote.

Choose the route that best fits your timeline and travel purpose. If speed and no-consulate handling matter, VPA is usually preferable.
